We have some very special guest presenting this month:
- The Economist / Economist.com
- Swoot
- Mochilla
First, we are excited to have both Ron Diorio and Eric Baumes, the CTOs of Economist.com, present. They’ll be speaking about what the Economist is up to both online and off-line. Economist.com is the premier online source for the analysis of world business and current affairs, providing authoritative insight and opinion on international news, world politics, business, finance, science and technology, as well as overviews of cultural trends and regular industry, business and country special reports.
Next, Glenn Pennock and Rogier Visser will present Swoot. Swoot’s mission is … “to make the Internet highly enjoyable. To create a customized user experience and in terms of creation giving back the control to the user.” Check them out at Swoot.com.
Last, Diego Medina will speak on behalf of Mochila, an online content marketplace for publishers, editors, creators and advertisers. Designed to be first to market, Mochila leverages the power of the Internet to facilitate the acquisition and sale of high quality content that includes articles, photography and soon video and audio.
It’s going to be a great evening, so come join us on Monday, January 14th at Slate Plus!

The Ladders opened their office to over 150 guests for the first official Lunch 2.0 in New York City. The lunch, which lasted for an hour and a half, included an introduction from the company’s CEO, Chinese food, and a lot of informal networking. Given out were shirts (with The Ladders’s logo and Lunch 2.0 NYC on the reverse side), branded takeout boxes and chopsticks. The event was reviewed by numerous online publications, including CenterNetworks and CNet/News.com. The new few Lunch 2.0 events will be announced very soon.
Next, The Ladders are sponsoring this month’s Web 2.0 Meetup at Slate Plus (54 West 21st Street). The event, which is being held on Monday, October 22nd (from 6:30-9pm), will feature Jason Rudolph, an author and Principal at Relevance. Mr. Rudolph will talk about current industry trends and Grails, and will host a Q&A session afterwards. There will also be free food and (drumroll, please) an OPEN BAR! Of course, this is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend, including those attending Sun Microsystem’s Startup Camp!

After the success of last month’s mobile-themed Web 2.0 Meetup event with Sun Microsystems, Mobile Monday (Winksite and Socialight), and BlogTalkRadio, we’ve decided to launch a new series of events, among other things: Lunch 2.0.
Today’s first Lunch 2.0 event in New York City, both hosted and sponsored by The Ladders, will begin at 12:30pm. Here are the details:
TheLadders.com
137 Varick Street (corner of Spring Street)
New York, NY 10013
Tuesday, October 16
12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
Lunch 2.0 is an event where an Internet and/or web technology company opens up their offices and invites people to join them for lunch and conversation. This is an opportunity to mix and mingle with technology influencers, leading press and bloggers, and industry peers, as well as learn about the great hiring opportunities at TheLadders.com.
